Flea Market Phew!

Final two

Okay, so the Long Beach flea market is tomorrow and I was still working on my paintings this morning … just refining things and signing them, but still. At this point in my life things that used to take no time at all seem to go on forever! Anyway, they’re finished now and I really love them, even if these photos are not great. My brief for all the flea market pieces was to use reclaimed wood as a canvas, and include a depiction of a succulent. The first one titled ‘AGUA’ I’ve already posted; these last two don’t really have titles. The larger of them is painted on a discarded gate and is done in an old billboard/sign style … maybe it’s the logo for the BIG ‘A’ ALOE FARM? The other, painted onto an old pantry door, is done in a hyper-stylized ’60s style and includes several fantasy succulents and a tiny elf owl (I just discovered this bird, which lives in the desert and gets all its water from the insects it eats). I’m hoping we, Dustin, Denise, myself, get to see lots of our blog readers at the flea — I haven’t been in a couple years so I’m looking forward to it. See you there!

Hi, Loree, sorry for not responding but was crazy-busy all day and with WordPress’s new two-tier security system (don’t ask) I couldn’t get into my own account! I’ll post on the flea market tomorrow after a hot, hot shower and a good night’s sleep. 😉

Reuben, these are great. I especially love the one on the pantry door. I looks like it has one of my favorite succulents, sting of pearls.
So how was the flea market?? Did you sell all of your works?
