Sweet Surrender
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner in the Rancho Reubidoux Concours d’Amour! The winning slogan was submitted by reader Mrs. Monstera and references the title of an album by soul singer/love god, Marvin Gaye. Titled, “Here, My Dear”, Gaye released his controversial double album in 1978, where it was less than well-received. Too deeply personal to be accessible, the album dealt with Gaye’s failed marriage to Berry Gordy’s daughter, Anna … it also included a song dedicated to his then new wife, Janis. Paul and I chose this slogan as winner because it expressed best the feeling of surrender that the assemblage — and falling in love — embodies.
Mrs. Monstera should email her address to reubix1@yahoo.com, along with her preferred prize featuring the finished artwork: a medium (20″ x 26″) print, framed in choice of finish – or – any style hoodie. Didn’t win? Don’t pout! Everyone is eligible to buy a print (framed or not), t-shirt, hoodie, etc., featuring the final artwork. Just go to my online shop at Society 6, here, here or here. They make great Valentine’s Day gifts!
