Missing Maria

April 14, 2012

Maria?

During my post-rainstorm inspection this morning I came across the horrible sight above: Our Virgen Maria has disappeared! Granted, Maria appeared unbidden one day (see this post), but we’ve grown accustomed to her serene presence inside her rocky grotto on the corner …

Yes, we could easily replace Maria with a new model, but I think I’ll wait and see if she miraculously returns …

I’ve had plants taken from this same corner when we first moved in (two aloe trees ripped right out of the ground), but this is different … I’m not a Catholic, or religious person at all, but I’m forced to wonder just what type of person steals a religious talisman — a gift — off a person’s property … My property!

Awww. It looks so empty without her. I’ve had things go missing, only to find them a few houses away stashed in a bush. Kids. Take a stroll around your neighborhood. You might find her placed in someone else’s yard.

Good idea, Donita … I somehow think a misguided Mt.Rubidoux Easter pilgrim might be involved. **Dons monocle**

My mom hung a cross from the vase on my grandfathers headstone and someone stole it. Who steals a cross off a grave?! Bad ju-ju!

I’m hoping Donita is right that Virgen Maria is visiting a neighbor….we had a toad who took a ride recently….
