Home Sick
In my long-ago last post, I mentioned that I had a cold. But, what I had was actually something much worse: a sinus/bronchial infection that brought with it a barbed wire-y sore throat, rollicking cough and technicolor productions. A visit to the doctor and I was prescribed, among other things, antibiotics and narcotics-laced cough syrup. Needless to say, going to work was out of the question and I’ve been home all week (I did go in for a couple hours on Tuesday but we won’t speak of that guilt-induced exercise in public expectoration). Today, Wednesday, I rose later than normally, and in my cough syrup haze transferred my sick bed to the living room. Once settled in I noticed that the poochies, Frito and Inky, had done the same, exchanging their pantry-based crib for the sofa that faced the one I was now nested on. They were in a haze too, one induced by the toasty morning sun streaming in through the window. I watched them for a while, enjoying their synchronous sibling sun worship … then drifted off to sleep again myself …
When I woke they had moved outside for a more direct sun-drenching, Frito atop a bench in the open sun and Inky favoring a patch on the concrete patio. I watched them through the window for a while then went back to my sofa to rest some more …
I’ll soon feel better and have to return to my workaday routine. The poochies will continue with theirs: following the Rancho’s morning sun like drowsy satellites.
Yep, I know your barbed wire sore throat……last night was the first night in a week that I didn’t awaken with it in the middle of the night…..weird,,,,,bad cold in the daytime……then heaven knew what to expect each night…..today first day feeling pretty ok……I’ve taken a jillion IBProphen……but luckily I didn’t get the cough…….don’t go back to work too soon….it’s amazing that somehow the presses still roll even when we aren’t there….publishing is a wicked world…be well my friend.

Hi, Guida, thanks for such a nice comment… glad you’re feeling better, I hope to be feeling the same soon!
So sorry to know that your bug is still, well, bugging you. Have had such too many times in the past not to know how lousy it can make you feel. Hope it will leave you soon.
Thanks, Vickie, I’m hoping it’s soon!
Aw, snoozy pups. Very cute!
Get well soon, Reuben. I’m still all clogged and gross, but at least I’m feeling better. I hope you’re popping all the right pills. Rest, fluids, repeat.
Hi, Donita, my formula: Rest, fluids, trash TV, repeat!
Mon pauvre Reuben !!
Une bonne soupe, du VicksVapoRub et au lit !
Get well soon.
Merci, Delphine!
I’m home this week with bronchitis too. But I don’t have two cute puppies to keep me company. Just the warm glow from my iPad! Hope you’re better today.
Dave, bronchitis is awful, hope you’re better soon, too!
Sorry to hear that you’re still under the weather. I thought for sure that you would be better by now. There are so many people sick at my office that I’m on a daily dose of Airborne… I’m hoping this will be the cooties away. Get well my friend!!
Thanks, Britney … I’m bummed by this tenacious bug’s continued existence, too … Inky says hi!
It’s a dog’s life!
Which I always throught was a bad thing, but now …
beautiful photography – my sister in Michigan calls that little patch of sun where her mini dachshund suns “the beach”.
Love “the beach”, thanks Susan!
❤ the dogs. Such a life!
This is why I’m hoping to return in my next incarnation as a beloved chihuahua, Jenn!
Those sleek little bodies are such works of art.
Aren’t they cuties?! Thanks for commenting, Esri
