Year One
With this post Rancho Reubidoux is a year old! It’s been an amazing experience and I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun working on a project. I’ve met a great number of great people — especially other bloggers — and reading your comments has been very encouraging. As of today RR has had around 16,000 hits, over 600 comments and 150 posts. Big thanks go out to all my readers … Here’re the RR TOP FIVE posts, with links:
5. Walking Tour: Maloof Garden Art (February’s damp tour of the garden’s whimsical on-site art)
4. Ricardo’s Wild Gift (Artist Ricardo Breceda’s fantastical metal sculptures — right off the 215 Freeway)
3. Book Report: Succulent Container Gardens (My review of Debra Lee Baldwin’s gorgeously inspiring book)
2. The Planter Project (September ’09’s project post about transforming horse troughs into planters)
1. Visiting the Maya Garden (Thanks to being named Dirt DuJour blog’s Friday Fave, hundreds of RR readers visit a local garden goddess)
Special thanks goes out to my friend Jan for pushing me into blogging in the first place, and to all my favorite fellow bloggers, including: Megan and Matti at Far Out Flora, Delphine at Paradise Express, Denise at A Growing Obsession, Kathy at Garden Book, Loree at Danger Garden, Ginny at Gypsy Girl Grounded, Yolie at Planting Along the Verge, Cindy at Dirt DuJour, and Sharon at Sunset.com … love that you’re out there, and what you bring to the party. Year Two begins today … thanks for coming along for the ride!
And would you look at the anniversary candle on that agave for the occasion! Congratulations to all of you. You’ve started a uniquely wonderful blog.
Thanks a million, Denise! I appreciate it
Congratulations! Blogging is fun, isn’t it? Mine is more of a personal journal and it’s helped me get through some trying times. Going back and reading old posts reminds me of how far I’ve come. I love my blog.
And I LOVE yours! So full of fun and inspiration. My decorating and gardening tastes are very similar to yours. Right now the finances won’t allow for a complete yard transformation, but someday I hope to achieve the Reubidoux look at my house. I also live in Riverside and would love to get rid of my thirsty lawn.
I look forward to more of your posts. They help keep me going on this never-ending project of a house.
Donita, thanks for your comment. We have to meet, I mean you’re right here in Riverside! Email me and let’s get together!
OMG….somehow I really missed that you were so “young” (maybe it was that other birthday a few posts back….). Thank you for the call out, you have no idea how much that means. I love this blogging world and 98% of the time I am in heaven but every once and awhile I start to get a bit of a bad attitude. The kind that if you all were here in town with me could be remedied by a drink out on the town somewhere to remind me how fabulous it all is. This was just the kick in the pants I needed! It’s so amazing it is that I’ve met so many wonderful informed and talented people across the world. Happy Anniversary and I can’t wait to read all about your next year.
I like the idea of a blogger happy hour … blogging’s interesting because you feel both part of a great big world (Wow! I have readers in Paris!) and entirely alone (why won’t anyone read my post on crocheted toothpaste cozies?!) … I’m glad you enjoyed the shout-out and thanks, Loree!
Bonjour Reuben et bon Anniversaire !!! Merci pour ton blog si passionnant . Yes, you have readers in Paris, i do confirm. I LOVE YOUR BLOG AND YOUR ART
Delphine, thanks! Your blog is pure inspiration, it’s like visiting an exotic island or the best flea market with the most gorgeous art gallery all wrapped up in one… your eye and style are impeccable…
Hurray for one year of fabulous blogs!!!!
Thanks, Megan, and thanks for being ‘Far Out’!
Congratulations! I usually lurk, but I wanted to say how much I enjoy your photos and writing. It’s nice that Riverside (and places nearby) is(are) getting recognition for a being fun and eclectic and even beautiful place(s) to live! Let me know when you come out to Palm Springs! Have you been to the Moorten Cactus Garden yet?
Thanks, very much … I only heard about Moorten’s this past week but we’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to go as yet. A visit is on the agenda … along with a post, of course… Lurk no more, welcome!
