Pucci’s Passage

December 31, 2009

Pucci in a Danish Modern mood

Pucci, the min-pin who made sloth look virtuous, went to his maker this morning. He had been sick for a couple of months and took a turn for the worse this morning around 3am. The vet diagnosed advanced pancreatitis, diabetes and cataracts; his age was undetermined. Pucci came to stay with us when we lived in Long Beach about 6 years ago, either by being placed in our yard or by somehow scaling the fence after deciding he would enjoy being surrounded by flea market finds. Sharing our various houses since then, he somehow always complemented the overall color scheme in spite of a propensity for clashing fabric choices. Like his masters he was mostly even tempered, with the exception of a 6-day-a-week vendetta against the postman. Although he never contributed to the mortgage, picked up after himself or offered much in the way of conversation, he was a good boy and Paul and I will miss him very much.

Here’re two classic Pucci pics:

I’m hoping Simone (my cranky, adorable, eccentric cat, who passed March 17) will welcome Pucci to her circle of afterlife friends and they can share stories about their (cranky, adorable, eccentric) owners. So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Pucci! What an adorable pucci-ni he was. I hope all of your memories and the strength of his little spirit sustain you during this sad time. When my precious little Gypsy went to her afterlife, I asked her to make a campo for us on her favorite beach so I could find her when I leave this world. I like to think that Gypsy, Pucci, and all of our beloveds are waiting for us together on a beautiful summer day at the beach : )
I will remember Pucci and you and Paul in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet companion. He always provided such a warm welcome. I think he secretly was hoping for snacks from the table. He shall be missed. xx, Andrea

So sorry to hear that Pucci passed 😦 I have two cats and a dog and I know they do become family, that’s for sure. Don’t be surprised if you still have the habit of checking his food or water, his prescense will be ingrained in you for a while.

Hope to see you next week 🙂

    Richard.

Hey Reuben, sorry to hear @ Pucci, I loved it when the mailcarrier would come to the house on Pacific, that dog just went crazy. He was good for you during your recovery, and he was nice to me if it was that time of the month, but only then…..Sorry TMI

Thanks, Cynthia, let’s just say we’re never going to set ourselves up to go through this again. It’s much harder than I expected.
