The 27th annual Friends of the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens Fall Plant Sale is almost here: Saturday, the 17th and Sunday, the 18th of October! If you’ve never been to a plant sale given by the Garden Friends you’re really missing out. There’s a huge selection to choose from and knowledgeable staff and volunteers available to answer questions about whether certain plants will work for you. Of course, there’ll be tons of native and drought tolerant plants (succulents!) on offer as well as some rare and unusual specimens (weird succulents!) you won’t find at the big box store nursery. There will also be pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, as well as t-shirts and posters. All of the proceeds go toward the UCR Botanic Gardens and associated projects. Friends of the garden (like Paul and I) can enjoy an early preview sale 3 hours before the mob’s allowed in. If you’re not a Friend yet, you can go there early, become one, and get first dibs. Just watch out for our elbows! Here’s a link to the Garden’s website and further information.
